Windheim Tool Bits
THINGS ARE MUCH DIFFERENT!!!
We have made a few bold moves to help us improve the quality of service we provide. We have purchased a new, state-of-the-art software system from Prophet21. This system will allow us to better serve and communicate with our customers. We will have a B2B business center, the ability to give accurate data to all customers concerning their purchases, tooling usage, current stock, and up to the minute information on their account.
We also have installed a new phone system and updated our website. A detailed list of our employee email accounts is on the inside of this publication. The phone system is cutting edge technology and links both branches together. The decisions help lay the foundation for our move into the future and affirm our commitment to be the best specialty cutting tool house in the area.
There is much more to come. We are monitoring every possible aspect of our business and making changes and upgrades constantly. Our employees work hard to insure that your call to Windheim is handled in a professional manor. We appreciate your business and will do whatever is necessary to demonstrate that to you.
NEW WINDHEIM EMPLOYEES
We have two new people in the Windheim Tool family. Aaron Cromwell has been added to our inside sales staff. Aaron's background in sales has made his transition as smooth as it could be and has already proven to be a great asset to our staff. Katie King also joined us recently. Katie will function as an administrative assistant. Her background in accounting will help greatly as she moves from department to department, helping with all the daily activities. Say hello to Aaron and Katie when you call in, they will enjoy hearing from you.
FEATURED LINE
Sandvik is the line we are featuring this issue. They have introduced a new generation of insert grades. They are harder, faster, tougher and more versatile then any that have gone before. These new generations of grades leave no room for quality compromise. Look inside for an example of their success.
A NEW APPROACH TO STEEL TURNING!
As part of their ongoing assurance program, Sandvik routinely performs tests against the competitions competitive grades, as well as the earlier versions of their own new grades. The following is the data retrieved from a test against an earlier version of a PI 5 grade. Note the remarkable increase in productivity when using the new 4215 inserts. Look for further announcements concerning the other new grades from Sandvik. All have enjoyed similar success!
Introducing the new GC4215
GC4215 bridges the gap between tough and wear resistant operations Made for applications with high cutting temperatures
Provides enough toughness for cast iron turning
Black and gold insert color lets you easily visualize wear
Carbide substrate with low stress coating for edge line strength
In a typical roughing application in ball bearing material, GC4215 showed increased productivity by producing 26% more parts per insert. Flank wear is greatly reduced after a longer time in cut, for an increased level of predictable and reliable machining!
58 PIECES COMPARED TO 46 PIECES FOR THE COMPETITION 29 MINUTES OF TOOL LIFE
26% increase in productivity!
Increasing cutting data and pieces per edge are not the only benefits of GC4215! A piece of mind in production is where this grade really comes into its own. Stronger edge lines give the confidence to use GC4215 for high productivity machining in mass production areas.
Cutting data:
Material: low alloy steel
Insert: WNMG w/PR chipbreaker
Coolant: Yes
Roughing operation, .0394 depth of cut, 980sfm, and .012-.0197 ipr.
A move to the future....
Since we last talked, some exciting changes have taken place at Windheim Tool Co. We are taking a new approach to further our commitment to old values.
Windheim philosophy has always been "dedication to customer" service. In an era of catalog and online sales companies, our staff of technical field representatives gear their approach to sales by becoming involved at the floor level with our customers. In addition to our people, we have at our disposal a number of highly trained factory technicians that represent various tooling options. The goal of every sales call is to heighten customer productivity and lower manufacturing costs. These "value added" sales techniques are provided to our customers at no additional cost and are designed to help us partner with you to achieve your manufacturing goals.
A few personnel changes have been made to insure we meet our goals. Mark Windheim has been promoted to Vice-President and will oversee all current programs. Mark's fresh approach and new ideas and his commitment to customer service represent the future of Windheim Tool Company. A new position of Operations Manager has been created and will be headed by Jim Barcomb. Jim will take charge of the inside sales staff and insure that our daily operations meet the standards of our commitment. In addition, state-of-the-art software is being installed. This will greatly enhance our productivity and our customer service.
As always, we appreciate your business and I welcome any comments or suggestions you may have.
